ABOUT
‘The Forgotten Songs’ is a direct sequel to ‘The Book of the Shattered Bonds’ (2007), catching up exactly where the first album fades out, as its tiny outro ‘Hope’ appears to be the beginning of a two-part, 8 minutes long suite ‘The Snows’. This one opens with a deceptively gentle sounds and quiet voice, but then grows and suddenly explodes with a perfect metal storm; then - several moments of intense calm, and - blizzard comes again. The second song - ‘Deliverance’ goes on a much quiter tone, but then again, this quietness is deceptive as well, fraught with a hidden strain so much, so that when ‘Black-Sided Sun’, the most furious and violent song by ‘Lacklustre Mirror’ so far invades, it doesn’t seem unexpected and unwelcome already.

Such oscillations between the extremes - between thunderstorms and intense stillness go on further, and eventually the finale of ‘The Last Song’ gets the listener back to the very starting point of the cycle: as its disastrous and desperating ending repeats the opening theme of ‘The Book of the Shattered Bonds’ - ‘No Escape From Myself’… Yet then there is an instrumental track ‘The Fathomless’, which signals, that there might not be an escape, but there is always an exit leading out from the dark.

‘Forgotten Songs’, the third chapter of ‘The Book of the Shattered Bonds’ appears to be more ‘massive’ and forceful then the first two parts. Definitely, it is the music intended not to entertain, but rather to immerse the listener into a very paradoxical dimension, where the violent chaos seems to be enveloped in harmony, and vice versa, and where snowstorms coexist with scorching celestial flames, and the Sun itself has two sides…
